Hydration – how does it help you look younger?

Listen to this post:

As a woman going on 37 years old, I try to apply all the known and unknown little tricks to help slow down my ageing process, at least on the surface, the shell, the body. I actually enjoy maturing on the inside :)), as a personality, mentally wise and becoming more at peace with my self. But going back to the secrets of slowing down the appearance of wrinkles and saggy skin, I think I have tried every little trick in the book. Collagen, boosters, gels and creams and serums, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, supplements, everything. But the most effective results that I have seen in time are: nutrition, hydration and your thoughts.

About nutrition I would like to talk to you in a different post.

Your thoughts are what you project in the outside world and it actually shows on your skin, face and posture. Also, we will discuss this further in a different post.

Today I would like to touch up on HYDRATION and the importance of this in our day to day life. First of all, hydration does not mean juices, coffee, sparkling water, energy drinks or alcohol.

Hydration means WATER. Just pure, simple, plain water.

Hydration is really the name of the game, especially at our age. Staying well hydrated helps to detox the liver, give us more energy, improves our mood, and reduces pain. It can also improve the appearance of our skin and aide in weight loss.

I think the most important step in detoxing our body and looking fresher, younger and glowing is drinking a lot of water. How to determine how much water to drink every day? Well, there is a formula your weight in kg x 33 = X amount of ml of water to drink in a day.

For this trick to work, you actually need to keep yourself hydrated for at least 2 months in a row. You cannot expect over night results with any natural remedy. You have to be consistent and choose to do your best every day. If you choose to do this for your own health, reaching for a glass of water instead of Cola/Pepsi or Red Bull, every inch of your body will thank you immensely. You will look and feel different, you will start to feel more energised and fresh looking. All those juices, coffees and energisers may give you a good feeling for the moment, but what you actually accomplish by consuming them is:

  • giving your body tons of sugar and feeding the addiction to it
  • your stomach feels strange and disturbed
  • your anxiety reaching new levels, but for the moment it stays hidden because of the good feeling the sugar gives you
  • your body feeling more and more tired by the day
  • your skin looks dull and dry
  • you have dark under eye circles

If you love juices, try to swap them with home made fruity water. This is a trick that works every time.

Add these combos to a pitcher of water and leave in the fridge for up to one week. Consume every time you feel a craving for sugar!

  • Water + Lemon slices, basil, pink Himalayan salt
  • Water + Turmeric slices, ginger slices, cinnamon sticks, lemon slices (and maybe even chili pepper seeds if you like a kick)
  • Water + Mint leaves and grapefruit slices
  • Water + Orange slices, rosemary springs, and pink Himalayan salt.

Top trick: when consuming these waters, try this trick! Water the edge of the glass and then dip it in some sugar. Pour in the fruity water and enjoy with that little bit of sweetness added.

Now go hydrate and enjoy it! Thank me later!
